Who comes to Vidaråsen?

  • Everyone from students and those doing their civil service to people looking for alternative ways of living, young and old alike. They have in common that they are open to try something new. The Camphill movement is well known within Europe and it is normal for Vidaråsen to welcome new co-workers from Germany, Swizerland, Austria, the former Eastern-Bloc, England, North America, Denmark, Norway and we have also had co-workers come from Africa and Japan.

    Where does one live?

  • Normally you would live in a house together with 2-6 villagers and 2-3 co-workers. The house is everybody's home, with the possibilities, tasks and challenges that are inherent in that arrangement.

    Do I need a special education in order to be accepted?

  • No, but we are obviously delighted if you are relevently-trained.

    How old does one need to be?

  • Ideally, you should not be younger than 21.

    What about a salary/wages?

  • Initially co-workers here receive 2,800 kr p/m plus room and board. Almost all other costs are borne by the village. After a while, usually after 1 year, are one's situation and responsibilites re-evaluated.

    Can one come to Vidaråsen as a civil service worker?

  • Yes, that is possible and quite normal.

    What can I expect to work with in the village?

  • It is important that you are open to helping out where there is a need in the village. This can be anything from making food, working in a workshop, in the fields or on the farm og in our care home, Ita Wegman Hus.

    Free time and holidays

  • It is important that festivals and holiday from Vidaråsen are not associated, because ideally these should be celebrated together - as a community. You should not expect long holidays your first year in the village, but it is usually possible to have every other weekend off.

    What does Vidaråsen expect of me as a co-worker?

  • We expect:
    - That you are willing to work in a house and help out there.
    - That you are willing to work where there is a need for your help in the village.
    - That you will attend the weekly village meeting and the celebrating of festivals.
